Article 1 – DUTY TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC
Members of the Florida Association of Vacation Rentals (F.A.V.R.) will seek to protect the public against fraud, misrepresentation and unethical practices in any transactions they may have with the public in respect of the rental or management of vacation rental accommodation. Any member found guilty (after investigation by F.A.V.R. or their representatives) of breaching Article 1 will have their membership of the Association terminated and will forfeit any dues paid for that subscription year.
Article 2 – DISCRIMINATION
F.A.V.R. members (hereinafter referred to as members) shall not discriminate in the rental, lease, or negotiation of vacation rental accommodation based on race, colour, religion, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, disabled (where available) or familial status and shall comply with all federal, state, and local laws concerning discrimination.
Article 3 – DUTY TO THE GUEST
Members shall have a fiduciary (including payment of taxes) responsibility to their guests and at all times act in the best interests of guests renting their vacation accommodation (s). Members shall have a duty to all their rental guests to treat them professionally when they are applying for, living in, and vacating a managed residence. Members shall hold in high regard the safety and health of those lawfully staying in their rental property. Members shall be obliged to ensure that their Management Company (or their representatives) is available to guests should they be required and that the Management Company attend to any request promptly and courteously.
Article 4 – PROPERTY CONDITION
Members shall ensure their property (ies) is maintained in accordance with the safety, licensing and habitability requirements of the local jurisdiction within which their property (ies) are found.
Article 5 – DUTY TO ACT FAIRLY WITHIN CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENTS
Members shall strive to ensure that any contractual agreements entered into with their guests are entered into in good faith and that the requirements of such contractual arrangements are adhered to.
Article 6 – IMPROVING THE PROFESSION
Members shall strive to improve the Short Term Rental Profession
by sharing with others their lessons or experiences for the benefit of all Members.
Article 7 - PRICE FIXING
Members shall not engage in the improper acts of price fixing,
anti-trust, or anti-competition with other Members
